“verisimilitude”. the appearance of being real…a similarity to the truth

This project is an exploration of vision, perception and memory through photography while attempting to transcend the medium's inherent technological characteristics toward a result that suggests drawing, painting and the artist's act of 'making marks'. Using an iPhone, the images must be developed real-time and saved before the app allows for subsequent captures—usually while on a bus, train, in an automobile or on foot. No Photoshop compositing or filters are applied. Modifications are limited to typical photo enhancements such as tone, color, contrast. (11 x 17" and 24 x 40", shown at right, inkjet prints)
